I clearly just don't get the value in using Lightroom to import, organize or tag. When I'm done editing, I then use the "Process Multiple Files" command (under "File" in the menu bar) to create full-size compressed images (they go in the "Full Size Compressed" subfolder, duh.) and again to resize and compress for use on MLS (you can guess what that subfolder's called). All my edits go to the "Retouched" subfolder. From there, I do all my post in Photoshop Elements 7. They are then moved up to the top-level folder for that shoot. The keepers are batch processed through the PTLens standalone app. jpg file) to sort through the images and pick out the keepers.
LIGHTROOM PTLENS WINDOWS
I use the stupid Windows photo viewer (The one that opens up by default when you double-click on a. I pull photos off my camera into a folder I've created for that shoot. Okay, I'm going to give away my super-secret workflow. The two combined are integrated nicely and give one the ability to do almost anything. I can also say that I use LR as the importing, organization, tagging and front end of my work flow and then a couple of quick steps in CS4 on some images. Since I already have CS3, it is hard to pull the trigger on Lightroom. I use Enfuse, CS3 and Capture NX which is Nikon's version of Viveza.Ĭapture NX is great for color management, lighting adjustments and sharpening (way better than CS3), but I still do most of the heavy lifting with CS3. I'm still learning both, it may take a year but they are the best darkroom I can imagine. Don't know how much that would cost, and I'd need to see just what else that gives me above PSE 5.ĬS4 and LR2 together are like going to war with lasers mounted on a space platform, nothing gets away from you. I've been thinking I might look to get ahold of a used copy of CS2. There are times when I wish I had some of the tools in Photoshop to make selecting easier, or to use in place of tedious cloning, but I get by all right. Does pretty well, mostly using Elements for cloning and layer masks as Larry says. I don't have true Photoshop, only Elements and LR.
LIGHTROOM PTLENS FREE
Many free video tutorials on using Gimp at : Originally posted ages ago. I use UFRaw for my raw processing and Gimp for post processing. Layering and about everything that Photoshop can do for Free.

I buy the latest version of Photoshop because I am hopelessly addicted and I can't find a 12 step program for Photoshop!įor less you can use Gimp. Lightroom 2 + PTlens will get you by for real estate photography! You don't even need Photoshop Elements if you don't want to do extensive cloning or layer blending.
LIGHTROOM PTLENS FULL VERSION
There's probably no good business case for purchasing a full version of Photoshop CS4 when you can even do extensive cloning (like removing cars from driveways) and layer blending with Photoshop Elements for $99. What's the business justification for spending so much on Photoshop as far as PFRE is concerned? What do you do with Photoshop that can't be done with Lightroom? Namely, clone/heal, masking for local adjustments, etc. It seems Lightroom 2.x does a lot of the things I used to buy Photoshop for. Here's a question inspired by another post.
